For more than 25 years, I've dedicated my life to serving others - as a small business owner, EMT, search & rescue volunteer, and community advocate. As a husband, father, cancer survivor, and longtime Santa Clarita resident, I'm running because I believe our city deserves thoughtful leadership, responsible growth, and a City Hall that listens. Santa Clarita is an incredible city. My wife and I chose to raise our family here because we truly believe it’s one of the best places in California to live. But loving our city also means recognizing where we can do better. For too long, we’ve had many of the same elected leaders making many of the same decisions. They deserve credit for the things they’ve done well, but every community benefits from new perspectives, new energy, and leaders willing to ask difficult questions before decisions are made—not afterward. I’m running because I believe our city can be even better.
Growth is inevitable—but poor planning isn't. Too often, major developments have been approved without fully understanding how they will affect existing neighborhoods, businesses, and traffic. Residents and small businesses shouldn't bear the cost of decisions made without adequate planning. As councilmember, I'll advocate for stronger impact analysis before projects are approved and greater accountability from developers when their projects negatively affect our community.
As our population grows, our infrastructure must grow with it. Roads, utilities, schools, public safety resources, and healthcare capacity all need to keep pace with development. We should never approve growth without ensuring our city has the infrastructure necessary to support it.
Families are feeling the pressure from rising housing costs, rent, groceries, utilities, and fuel. While local government can't solve every economic challenge, it can make smarter decisions that expand housing options, support local businesses, and strengthen programs that help seniors, working families, veterans, and residents experiencing homelessness.
As someone who has worked in film production for 25 years, I've experienced firsthand the slowdown affecting our industry. Santa Clarita has become a major production hub, yet many of our sound stages remain underutilized. We should work proactively to reduce unnecessary barriers, attract more productions, and support an industry that creates thousands of local jobs while benefiting restaurants, hotels, vendors, and small businesses throughout our city.
Santa Clarita has beautiful parks and public spaces, and we should continue maintaining them. But we also need to be thoughtful stewards of taxpayer dollars. Too often we spend money replacing landscaping or undertaking cosmetic projects that aren't priorities while other needs remain unmet. Every dollar should be spent with purpose.
Having spent much of my life serving alongside law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS personnel, public safety isn't just an issue to me—it's personal. Santa Clarita is fortunate to have outstanding first responders, but they continue to face staffing shortages and increasing demands. While the city doesn't control Sheriff's Department policy, we are an important partner and should use our voice to advocate for the staffing, equipment, and resources our deputies need to keep our community safe.
Too often, political leaders make promises on the campaign trail, only to fall short once they're in office—and, just as importantly, fail to explain why. I pledge to do things differently. I will maintain an open and honest dialogue with our community, keep residents informed about the issues coming before the City Council, and be transparent about the reasoning behind my decisions. The reality of governing is that we won't always agree. It's impossible to give everyone everything they want, and there will be times when compromise is necessary. But even when you disagree with my decision, you deserve to know why I made it. Accountability isn't just about making promises. It's about being accessible, explaining your decisions, owning your mistakes, and answering to the people you were elected to serve.
